The good news is that you can replace the LCD screen yourself at minimal cost. If you have soldering skills you can easily replace the screen yourself. The December Satellite list was just released and available here .   Why we do this each month I have been in the satellite business for years. During that time I have sold thousands of satellite finding meters to some of the finest dealers and installers in many countries.  Each month we do our best to provide a very complete satellite list that includes all the needed transponder parameters making it easy to find the satellite you are looking for. We also include the DVB-S or DVB-S2 format of each transponder. If you don't know, DVB-S2 is taking over and we have fewer DVB-S transponders each month as they are converted to DVB-S2.  Many meter owners are still using older meters that were made before DVB-S2 and work only on DVB-S. Some installers can't afford a new meter so they use the available DVB-S transponders to align the dish. Use this list to easily look up the DVB-S transponders on any satellite. It is a good idea to check at least two transponders since many transponders are moving to DVB-S2. From 2 weeks ago there is a gain of 19 new transponders. There is 29 more DVB-S2 transponders and 10 fewer DVB-S transponders from just 2 weeks ago. What does this mean for you? Wild Feeds and Backhauls Ever wonder whats on those satellites that you don't know about? There is a whole group of folks scanning the skys and reporting their findings in the same place. They don't do it for money for fame... they do it for the love of 'Free to Air Satellite Channels' and whatever their passion is. Some are looking for that big game of football or baseball or soccer, others are racing fans. All with the same goal in mind, watching that event live from their satellite feed. Not only do they watch the event but they tune in to interesting things not shown on the public feed. There are all kinds of shows and events on satellite that we normally would not know about. Need a way to load that old meter? Do you have a older meter that requires a older Windows that you don't have? Or maybe you are a Linux user (like me) and you don't have Windows at all. What do you do when you want to program or update that old meter? It's getting harder and harder to find older computers with older Windows OS. It seems Window XP always worked the best for updating meters and even for updating the TP lists. I actually keep a very old Windows XP machine for that very purpose. I've been following ReactOS and it's getting to a point where it should be very capable of solving these 'old meter' problems.

FREE Cloud Storage for Linux There is lots of FREE cloud storage available. I write this mainly for Linux users however most cloud storage services are cross platform so they do work for Windows as well. The “CLOUD” is pretty cool. You can store files there and access them from any computer regardless of where you are. As long as you have internet access you will have access to those files. The “CLOUD” is big business. Of course companies sell storage. But for me and for most businesses you need access to only a few files. There is really no need to pay for storage. Not everyone pays for cloud storage. There are several options available for free storage. Some even offer 50GB free. Most cloud storage services will also have a mobile app. With a little bit of ingenuity you can probably have all the storage you need for free. So, how do you find it? Need to copy and paste different things several times? Clipit is the answer! Have you ever used copy (Ctl+C) and paste (Ctl+V) for several different pieces of information that you want to re-use in different places? If you are a Ubuntu type Linux user Clipit makes it easy. Clipit simply keeps track of what you copied and provides a list that allows you to click on any item making it ready for you to paste it where you want it. I really like this little clipboard manager and use it on a daily basis. It also has several settings that allow you to make it work the way you want it to work. Note: ClipIt is a lightweight GTK+ clipboard manager. Clipit is for Linux users. You can compile and install Clipit yourself (instructions) or use their PPA.  We are on AT&T fiber. It's suppose to be fast, right?  For some time our computers have been slow. Now I know that Windows will trash up your computer making it slow, but we use Linux which doesn't add garbage to the computer and the computer itself is alway as fast as the day we first turned it on. So, resetting the gateway and all connected devices did nothing. Our internet continued to crawl. Download speeds of around 24 Mbps. AT&T is able to check the fiber line and told me it is in good working order. They are also able to reset the modem, which they did but with no effect. The internet remained at a crawl. They would like me to believe it is my equipment. Finally, after telling them if they could fix their service I would be forced to change providers. Suddenly they found that my modem was more than 4 years old.... that matters because they are unable to update the software in the older modems.
