CARFAX doesn't have a clue who owns my Jeep or what the service has been
Carfax is a popular vehicle history report company that provides information on a car's past, including accidents, damage, and mileage. Carfax reports are generally considered to be reliable, but they are not perfect. There are a few limitations to Carfax reports:
- They only include information that has been reported to Carfax. This means that if a car has been in an accident and the repair was not reported to Carfax, it will not show up on the report.
- They only go back as far as the car's history has been reported. If the car is older, there may be information that is not included in the report.
- They do not include all possible types of damage. For example, Carfax reports do not typically include information about flood damage.
Overall, Carfax reports can be a helpful tool for used car buyers, but they should not be considered the only source of information. It is important to do your own research and ask the seller questions about the car's history.
In my case, I traded in our 2014 Jeep three years ago. I still get Carfax notices telling me that I am overdue for a oil change.
If you are buying a used car I would not bother with Carfax. As you can see, they still have my 2014 Jeep belonging to me. However I have traded it in over 3 years ago. This email was received on August 19th, 2023.
I would take a used car to your trusted mechanic for a checkup before you buy it.
I makes more sense than trusting a company who has never seen the car and depend only on information given to them.
