I use Linux on a old laptop to serve my files by Syncthing making all my files available on any computer I am using. My files aren't on the cloud, they are on my computers ONLY. Linux doesn't force updates, they let me choose. I do keep everything updated and have never had a problem.

I find it more reliable, more convenient, and more cost effective. In most cases it is FREE! I use GNU Cash for my accounting needs. It does everything I need with the exception of tracking inventory. GnuCash is personal and small-business financial-accounting software, freely licensed under the GPL and available for GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows." I use LibreOffice as a near perfect office suite compatible with Microsoft Office. Free cloud storage ? I show you where to get plenty. Want to learn more? Using Wordpress for your website? Your site could be at risk. The risk of unserializing attacker-controlled data in PHP has been well known since Stefan Essar first presented the issue in detail in 2009[1]. This topic is closely associated with similar vulnerabilities in other languages (see CWE-502[2] and CWE-915[3]). Recent years have also seen several vulnerabilities in the native code implementing unserialization (CVE-2017-12934, CVE-2017-12933, CVE-2017- 12932 et al.) further demonstrating the risk of exposing unserialization to attacker-controlled data.  This paper will present a novel attack technique specific to PHP which can cause unserialization to occur in a variety of exploitation scenarios. The technique can be used when an XXE vulnerability occurs, as well as such circumstance that would typically be considered an SSRF vulnerability and in a number of other scenarios where the vulnerability would previously have been considered an information disclosure issue.

New Man-in-the-Disk attack leaves millions of Android phones vulnerable Security researchers at Check Point Software Technologies have discovered a new attack vector against the Android operating system that could potentially allow attackers to silently infect your smartphones with malicious apps or launch denial of service attacks. Dubbed  Man-in-the-Disk , the attack takes advantage of the way Android apps utilize 'External Storage' system to store app-related data, which if tampered could result in code injection in the privileged context of the targeted application.
