Can't get your Sathero Meter or First Strike Meter to load? You know the software is mature and well tested by many meter owners. I actually get a few emails or calls complaining about the software not loading. In most cases this problem can be solved by cleaning the computer. I've put together a short article on this that I've been sending out for years simply named Clean Computers.

It is always good to keep your computer clean. It helps avoid virus's and malware.

Our first 2012 Satellite/Transponder list is available. Registered owners of our meters can request a list.
This list of satellites and transponder settings is 139 pages long. Icomes in a pdf file and can be used for a reference for the settings ofyour meter (or your receiver).

Recently DMS International released our Avenger PLL321S-2 PLL LNBFwith 300KHz (or better) stability. This LNBF improves receptioncapability on all receivers. If you are using MPEG4 receivers thisLNBF will give you a better and more stable reception. We are gettingreports of vast improvements on channels that were tiling and blockingbefore. Even channels that could not be received now become not onlyavailable but rock solid.

The better traditional LNBFs give about 1.5MHz (1,500 KHz) stability. Lots of the low end LNBFs have 3MHz (3,000 KHz) stability. You can getby with these on MPEG2 SD with few problems, but with MPEG2 HD youshould consider stability of 1.5MHz a absolute minimum. Even then youcan see some problems. MPEG4 is a different animal. The compressionis greatly increased, making stability a major issue. MPEG4 HD jamstons of data in even smaller spaces. Properly rendering your MPEG4signals requires better LNBFs with high stability. Your traditional LNBF is no longer good enough. As this technology of higher compression and faster transfers improves the requirements for higher stability increases.

I have heard lots of complaints that MPEG4 receivers won't get all theavailable channels or some channels are seriously tiling and freezing. Most likely this is not a receiver problem, but a problem deliveringgood stable signal to the receiver. Think about it. When we went fromMPEG2 to MPEG4 we made a huge leap in technology of receivers. Itstands to reason that we need the same huge leap of technology in ourLNBFs. We have provided this for you in our Avenger PLL321S-2 PLL LNBF.

The good news is that our Avenger PLL321S-2 PLL LNBF is priced in the same range as the traditional LNBFs making it a no brainer to upgrade your LNBF. Don't install a new receiver without installing a new Avenger PLL321S-2 PLL LNBF.

Dish Reflectors

High Definition channels pack a whole lot more information in the same space. Receiving it from satellite requires much higher stability from your LNBF. MPEG4 complicates things even more. Missing channels, tiling, blocking and drop out are most likely caused by your LNBF. So, how do you fix this problem without spending $300 or more?

DMS International has come to your rescue. Swap out that old LNBF for our Avenger PLL321S-2 LNBF that gives you at least 5 times better stability and in some cases well over 10 times improved stability. Avenger PLL321S-2 Released

On December 6th we released our latest product the Avenger PLL321S-2, our new PLL LNBF with 300KHz or better stability. The good DRO LNBFs made today are 1.5MHz (1500KHz) stability making our new PLL LNBF at least 5 times more stable. Lots of low end DRO LNBFs are 3MHz (3000KHz) or worse stability.

While high stability LNBs aren't exactly new, what stands out here is two things, 1) we made it in a LNBF, and 2) the price is comparable to DRO LNBFs currently on the market. This means, for about the same price you can have a high stability LNBF on your system.

So why is stability so important? The higher the compression, the more critical stability becomes. This became very evident when MPEG4 channels started to appear. Now we have MPEG4 HD channels that really pack a lot of information in a very small space. You need higher stability LNBFs to insure that you can receive all the channels. If you are missing some channels now, it may not be your receiver, instead take a look at your LNBF. Swapping it out for our new PLL LNBF most likely will overcome this problem. Better stability will also improve weak signal and rain fade problems. You will find channels that were too weak for your system before, and when your system is effected by adverse weather conditions, you will find your signal will not deteriorate as fast as it did with your old LNBF.

The new Avenger PLL321S-2 is a must for feed hunters and hobbyists alike. The price makes it very acceptable for any installation and today's high compression digital world demands high stability.

Adjust the LCD on your Sathero SH-200

Here is some good news for those of you who ask me about adjusting the LCD. The operating software for the SH-200 has been improved and is available to registered owners for download. This version adds speed, improved signal locking and improved accuracy. It now includes the ability to adjust the brightness of your LCD.

Today I updated the satellite/transponder list. This list includes all the known satellites and transponders around the world. I provide 2 of these lists to registered owners of First Strike Meters and Sathero Meters. Each list is formatted for the specific meter you have. I provide this service free of charge to registered owners of our meters. You simply need to provide your registered meter information and request the list. These lists are extensive which makes them long. Usually they are about 140 pages and come as a PDF file.

When you register your meter it is critical that you provide the serial number and registration code correctly. Each meter is checked against our production list and verified that it is actually ours. On First Strike Meters we check the serial number and Sathero Meters we check the registration code found on the inside of the battery door. We fully support meters that came from us however we are not able to support meters that did not come from us.

To give you an idea of how extensive our list is, it contains 6,822 lines of information. Many have told us that our Satellite / Transponder list is the most accurate one available. It's what we base our Sathero SH-200 master list on.

The BSC621-2D has been improved. Starting with the latest shipment, the BSC621-2D now includes a 2x1 DiSEqC switch and 2 coax jumpers for installing it.

Now you can receive the latest BSC621-2D C/Ku LNBF which includes a 2x1 DiSEqC switch and 2 coax jumpers that can be used for connecting the Ku and C ports of them LNBF.

Very large shipment of JSC321S single and JSC322 twin just arrived. As most of you know, Japan components have been in short supply. We have been lucky to receive several shipments since the shortage started. The supply chain has been weakened but not broken. Many LNBF factories are forced to use the Chinese components. While some Chinese components have improved, they are still not as good as the Japan components.

Well, since the last news letter we've sold a ton of FS1 meters and it didn't take long to sell out of the SM-2500 meters. I thought it would take much longer. So, thanks to everyone who placed a order with us. That is what keeps us going strong!!!

K to L Series Upgrade
We have had a surprising number of K to L FS1 upgrades. A few people have ask me if we plan to upgrade the FS1 again. The short answer is NO, we do not have any new hardware upgrades in the works for the FS1. There may be software upgrades but those will be free of charge and posted to our website.

FS2 meter announced
I also announced the FS2 meter recently. Soon we will do the final approvals and soon you will be able to buy this meter. I am really excited about this one. The engineers have made a completely new platform. You will be seeing a lot more of this new platform in coming meters. We will have at least 2 models of the FS2, the FS2-DVBS and the FS2-DVBS2. Man, the Pidgin team is great. They have already updated Pidgin to fix the certificate error.

FIX: The certificate for omega.contacts.msn.com could not be validated.

Recently Pidgin started showing an error because the certificates won't validate. It seems MS has changed verification certificates.

If you get the error "The certificate for omega.contacts.msn.com could not be validated. The certificate chain presented is invalid.", here is the fix.

Download this 'pidgin fix.zip' file here. Un-zip and you will find 2 new certificates. Drop these into your Pidgin ca-certs folder. Restart Pidgin and you should be good to go.
